Position of Talomin Books in relation to event offerings across Australia and in Auckland 2020 concerning Corona virus (COVID-19).
COVID-19 restrictions have changed the way we live, learn and work, and to reduce its spread, restrictions such as border closures, quarantine and mandatory self-isolation will occur with little notice or consideration for personal or professional plans.
For this reason, all our 2020 live capital city events have had to be postponed until 2021. The COVID-19 crisis happened to coincide however, with the launch of our two, new, online offerings. These online programs were two-years in the planning and creation. In consequence, more than 80% of clinicians registered for our live events chose to transfer to these programs, and our feedback has indicated they have been thrilled with these online events.
Our online options include a highly interactive two-day livestream, where clinicians can pose questions in real time, or an engaging pre-recorded package that can be worked through at one’s own pace over a three-month period. The recorded program is not merely a recording of a live event, but a specially designed learning package, incorporating videos, real-life case studies, multiple practical skills, learning quizzes and discussion points. We encourage you to consider our online offerings as alternatives to capital-city events until the end of 2021 because of the uncertainty still occurring around live events during the COVID-19 crisis. We have aimed to ensure that the quality of training for our three modes of delivery is equivalent, and many clinicians have commented that they preferred learning from home during a live workshop, and/or having extended access to the online presentations, which can be viewed more than once to consolidate learning.
Our fees remained the same for all three modes in 2020; however we have introduced a complimentary, optional, trauma case study livestream group for clinicians who have completed the four-day online or livestream training package (Days 1-4 and Days 3-4), to help apply the skills to cases presented by group members. This takes place in a structured, livestream learning environment facilitated by Dr Leah Giarratano.
In 2021, there will be a fee increase for our Australian capital city events and we will introduce a new online-only program: Days 5 and 6, which will build upon the trauma case study groups, offering applied case formulation to real cases, and additional trauma treatment skills. Our Day 5-6 program will only be available past attendees of Day 1-4.
Please note, that if you register to attend one of our scheduled 2021, live, capital city events and COVID-19 restrictions happen to affect your event, you will have the options of: a refund; credit or transfer to the next scheduled capital city event at the same or different location; or the option of participating in one of these two online training choices (in which case you will also be entitled to the livestream case study program without charge). We will offer you the same options if you contract COVID-19 or are caring for someone with COVID-19. We will waive our usual transfer and cancellation fee under these circumstances.
Also note that in the circumstances above, if you paid us with a credit card, the card fee on the date of payment is non-refundable, however the card fee for the refund will be waived. If you made travel or accommodation bookings in order to attend any of our events, we cannot assist you with reimbursement of those costs. We can only assist you with the fee paid to us.
If you have any questions about participating in one of our online or capital city events, please contact us via this website.
Take care and stay well,
Joshua George - Director
